I'm just curious, am I just lucky or are all Weim pups so great? I have had him now for 11 days! That's it!
My boy does NOT potty in the house. (Of course his first day home he did.) He will hold it until he gets outside now.
He is able to walk alongside without a leash, and will not run off. If I stop, he stops and sits when I go, he goes. On busy streets we always keep the leash on.
He can sit on command, and he gives high fives (or just paw lol) on comand.
He chews only on his toys now, after a firm NO! he knows not to touch anything else
He is a huge cuddler, he puts his face all the way behind you, nuzzles very close and goes right to sleep. He is great with my 5 year old also.
Was your weim this great? Or should I be happy that I got lucky with a great puppy?? |

Congratulations, sounds like you are off to a great start!
Keep in mind that some of this, such as following you, is normal during puppyhood, but will go away (if not reinforced) when adolescence hits. So do some training of the recall, giving great treats when he comes. Same with the leash (and non-leash) walking- give him some treats when he is right beside you. |

WOW! how do you do it? I've had my new puppy for almost 2 weeks now. He still has so many accidents and chews on everything and bites my other dog. But he knows his name and what NO! means. lets switch puppies lol. except your puppy will be a giant and mine will be small. (cairn terrier)
You are amazing. Have fun with your fantastic puppy!!! |

they are a very nice breed of dog, but keep in mind hes still little... He hasnt started teething yet..... think of it as a baby...... their usually pretty good, then the terrible 2's hit.... You for sure may have just gotten really lucky, but prepare for the terrible 2's |

Congrats! Sounds like you've got a great pup!
It's probably a combination of you and the dog. Good dog+Good owner= happy relationship! |

Oh I thought the same about my girl! Then 3 wks later hit, she started getting teeth and that "perfect puppy" phase went out the window. Biting and knawing all over the place with teeth, refusing to walk on the leash, barking, the whole 9 yards. It's now 4 months in and she's stopped the biting and is getting WAY better with her training. Just expect that it gets worse before it gets perfect but hang in there! |
