Hi

I'm thinking about adopting a Weimaraner. A few co workers have them, I love their size, and they are simply adorable!

I do not know many characteristics about the breed though.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!!!!!!

They are highly energetic, loving, loyal, family dogs that require a lot of training. Great dogs if you have the time for them. They may become destructive when left alone or not able to release their energy. Here is some more info:http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/weimaraner.htm

Good luck

Highly motivated, highly energetic working breed! Take a long time to mature and need something to do with their time. Need lots of exercise and prefer the company of other dogs - definitely not suitable to be left home alone while you work! They are beautiful but not for your average pet home.

There are many in Weim Rescues needing homes, they are very high energy and tend to be dominate and not always good with other animals. They were bred to hunt for hours so need to be in a secure fenced yard. If properly exercised and trained they can be great housedogs. My Aunt raised and showed them so I was around them quite often as a kid plus I rescued a field bred Weim out of titled parents. A good way to know if they are a good fit for you is to foster one for a Weim rescue group. That way you get to know the breed b4 you commit to a 14 yr partnership. Think about future plans b4 you get a dog, kids, moving, advancing in a company so working more hours. A properly socialized well bred Weim can go to a Doggy Daycare and get extra exercise there.
