Explain... please give details on temperment, Athletic capabilities, and how would one person find a reputable breeder in Los Angeles California... Also... I am a Law Enforcement Officer(CHP) and me and my family are very active..... However I dont want to hear any opinions about me and what kind of dog you personally think I should have.. those answers will be overlooked.. I am not a first time dog owner.. I would just like to know what reason you would choose one of these breeds and if you already have describe what pulled you towards that breed... thank you!! |

I'd choose a Rhodesian because they are so beautiful and incredibly sleek and strong. They take a lot of exercise to stay fit. They can grow a gut if you let them. But they don't always fit in with children around, so I personally wouldn't choose that breed right now because of my toddler.
A great dane has a wonderful temperament and disposition. The ones I've dealt with are so big and mushy and just big babies. They're wonderful dogs. But they're prone to hip and back problems and their life spans are under 10 years.
I've never dealt with weimararners before so I can't say much about them.
German Shepherds have always been great. I've never once met a bad tempered or aggressive shepherd. They're so loyal, protective, fun, smart, and beautiful. They're just an all around good dog. I'd go with a shepherd personally. |

I would say the German Shepherd.
Active and intelligent.
But the Rhodesian Ridgeback and Weimaraner would also be good choices.
I would not choose the Great Dane (although they are great dogs) because they aren't good jogging companions. They are the least active out of the choices you listed. You also can really damage their joints if you exercise them too much while they are growing. |

I have a weimaraner, and I think that would be a great choice! 
Weims are very versitile, there energetic, mines very dog friendly and people friendly.
Hes EXTREMLY athletic, loves swimming, hunting, running, going for bike rides, everything.
You can find a breeder through a online search, they are BEAUTIFUL dogs, not to common, but very worth it.
They do grow bigger but there not agressive dogs and from my experiance are very silly, yet intelligent and elegant. Weims also have short coats so they are very good in the hot outdoor weather and can keep going.

So many dogs, so little time. My wish list of dogs I would like to have is this but not in any specific order and is not complete:
Norweigian Elkhound
Weimerinner
German Shepherd
Rottweiller
Border Collie
Husky
Chocolate Labrador Retriever
Yellow Labrador Retreiver
Black Labrador Retreiver
Currently have 1 Black Lab purebred, 1 Black Lab/Border Collie mix 1 Collie/Husky mix
Seems my wife and I prefer working dogs as they are all very intelligent and easy to train, get along well with other dogs and people when properly socialized. |

If I had to choose? None. None of the breed listed are any i like enough to own.

I own a ridgeback, they are very active, have a very high immune system, a great family dog.They are loyal and very smart! |

none because you will pay out more in vet bills than the pups worth because of overbreeding inbreeding and linebreeding. |

I would go with the weimeraner. They are my second breed of choice after a Dalmatian. I love everything about them, their size, high energy level (great jogging companions), willingness to please, sometimes being aloof with strangers, the colour of their coats and intelligence.
They are called "Ghost dogs" because of their silver coloured fur and pale green eyes. Just beautiful. They can also be trained to a high level of obedience and are great at agility. My obedience teacher has one and he competes in agility. Love them!!
As to where you could get one - I can't help you there, as I don't live in America, but I am sure if you visit the AKC website, that can point you in the right direction. |

I would breed German Shepherds. They are a noble breed. I love their movement, their look and their temperment. They are a little more serious but can be playful. They are known to be aloof, that is, they don't seek attention from strangers, but are very affectionate with their family. GSDs are active, athletic and extremely intelligent. My GSDs are ever watchful ( I hate saying protective because it sounds aggressive).
If I were looking for a breeder, I would ask on this site

then follow up myself. A reputable breeder would have working titles for their dogs, hips, elbows and eye clearances done at least. They would have a strict contract and a health guarantee. The dog would cost at least $1000 and probably more.
