Bull Terrier
Doberman
Weimaraner
Dogo Argentino
If I raised a male pup around my female pit bull when she is around 1 or 2 years old, are they likely to get along well when the male is older? I want to get one of those later |

All of those choices are "aggressive" breed dogs except the Weimaraner. I have nothing against any of those breed (I own a Pit mix) but they do require extra training and a strong willed owner. Don't expect to buy them and put them in the backyard and everyone to get along fine. Socialize your female pit now....a lot, before you ever get another dog. Put her through obedience training so you know she'll listen to you even if a new puppy won't right away. And don't expect another dog to solve behavioral/boredom problems with your current pet, it can just make it worse. I think the Doberman or Weimaraner are the better of the options, but also make sure to research the health issues associated with all the breeds because there are some major one that can get pretty expensive. |

weim I wouldn't suggest. Different personality. Dogos are really hard to come by, many will mistake for a poorly bred pit bull. Bull terrier was use to create the pit bull, there for have similar temperaments. Doberman will be much larger than your pit bull, faster, and stronger. Would not recommend if your female wants to be dominant, nor if you don't want a larger dog. |

Has your pit bull been socialized properly? If so then they should be fine. Puppies love everybody and if they're welcomed into your home by the older pit bull they'll be fine. As long as your pit has been socialized properly she shouldn't have an issue with it. Just take them on a really long walk together before you even bring the new puppy inside. |

Your dog breed book should also mention that this varies from dog to dog. I know people at the dog park who own several dogs, including a Bull Terrier or two. |
