Subject :Is my dog a Liver German Shorthair or a Weimaraner - Chocolate Lab mix?

We rescued Woody (male) from a shelter a few years ago and he was listed as a German Shorthair. We have a female Liver German Shorthair as well. Woody's body type seems different from the female's but I chalked it up to being a boy. I found some pictures of a Weimaraner/Chocolate Lab mix online and think he sort of looks like that as well, but in other GSP pictures he looks like that. How do I know which he is? I don't want to tell someone he's one "breed" when he's really a mix of another.

The only way to know for sure is to do a DNA test. Here is a link to a site that sell it and it's priced right. (My daughter did it and the results came back with about 8 breeds in the dogs history.)

If you didn't buy a REGISTERED dog from a reputable breeder,lord knows what sort of mutt it is.
After all this time,why do you care?

Its too hard to tell with the video. And the pic is not that great. Do you have a pict of him standing still?

He looks like a GSP to me but considering he is from a shelter there is no way to definitely tell. I don't think i see weimaraner in there but then again the pict is not that great.

Edit- FYI chocolate labx weim mixes generally arn't liver. Chocolate is more recessive. And the silver color of the weim is dominant so generally they are silver in color. Which is why really bad breeders of them pawn them off as rare silver labs.

They can be liver but its usually not as rich.

Edit- Now that i have seen a better picture yes i would say he is a labxweimaraner mix
