I bought a Weimaraner from a newspaper ad that the lady said she could not keep anymore due to her new job. She said she also got rid of her small dog. More than a month later, yesterday I saw her on the side of the road selling assorted mixed breed dogs (ugly dogs). She told me that for one breed her neighbors dog kept jumping the fence. I know without a doubt that it WAS her, even her truck was there. I told her that she looked familiar but she said no... Doesn't she sound like a scam artist? Why would she do this? The Weim was full blooded and she got rid of him. Wonder where she got him. |

Sounds like she breeds dogs and sells them for them for money. She probably makes up stories instead of telling the truth because a lot of people won't buy dogs from people who breed them, including me because I think it's wrong. People breed animals for cash when there are SO many homeless ones for adoption. She may even get free ones from the newspaper then sell them herself. Whatever she is doing...it sounds fishy. |

She definitely sounds dishonest. As many have said - she could be buying them from puppy mills, taking "free dogs" from ads and re-selling them. Most people want to visit the dogs they are going to buy - preferably with the parents on site - if they are from a private breeder. I agree with alerting the authorities. I would also check and see if he has a microchip. Also check the newspaper for lost/dogs, and make sure you did not receive a stolen dog. Most people with full blooded animals would be more than relieved and happy to reimburse you if you happened to innocently purchase a stolen dog. Good Luck. |

Don't know. Maybe she steals dogs and sells them. Did you get the vet record for your weimer? Or at least ask where she took him for vet care? Your vet can get those records if you know where they are. You at least could get some information about your dog's history that way. I would also check to see if your weimer already has a microchip and check to make sure he isn't a missing dog. Your vet can scan for a chip. I bet you can just stop in and have the receptionist do it. I Would. |

Yes, there has got to be something going on here. She might be a broker of some kind, buying dogs from BYB's or Puppy Mills and selling them. I hope you didn't pay too much for your dog. Did you get papers for him, like bloodlines and Kennel Club certificates? |

Sounds fishy. What if she stole the dog?
Selling puppies on the side of the road is illegal, isn't it? You should have alerted the authorities because you never know if those are her dogs or not. |

Not a crook but dishonest.Something to think about for people running ads for free to a good home ads,this woman may take the dog and resell it |

More than likely she's gathering dogs from somewhere like Craigslist and flipping them for profit. |

I agree, this woman sounds suspicious.
She could have stolen the Weim. Have you had it scanned for a microchip? |
