I have always liked large breed dogs and tomorrow I might be getting my first. I am an adult who has always had terriers or other small type dogs and cats. I have a terrier now, and he is not my cup of tea but I tolerate him. Tomorrow I might adopt a 10 mo. old Weimaraner. What should I know about large breed dogs that will be different than my terriers past and present? (The size is a big duh!)

How should I proof my home? Are large breed dogs better with kids and more fun for adults?

my neighbor has a Weimaraner and they are MAZING DOGS! just make sure you train them right and to get along with other dogs and people . that breed easily learns to stay without a leash and are really fun and energetic only when wanted. great dogs and just be happy you picked out a great breed. use baby gates untill they learn not to chew on things and stay out of rroms there not suposed to be in. teach them . that breed is a family dog and they are just amazing. they are good with any age if treated right and with love. just keep food out of reach and things you dont want them to get untill they are trained to not touch them. just dont give it peopel food or it will then grab it off of counters and that is a habit that will never go away sad to say. but still good choice for a dog/ they are right under large breed and are large breed depending on if its a boy or girl.

As an adult, you should know that buying a dog is a huge commitment that requires a lot of research. Doing that research on yahoo answers the night before you get the dog is irresponsible to put it mildly. And what exactly is going to happen to this dog that you merely "tolerate" when you get your new dog? All signs here point to STOP. Do the research, work on your relationship with your current dog, and then start dog hunting (either through local shelters or a reputable breeder).

They can eat and poo a lot, a good food can help with this. Require much more energy, and weimaraner are def. a big dog when considering there energy level.

First off, if you "tolerate" your current terrier, and you get a new dog, whom you will most likely love and adore because it is the big dog you always wanted, the small dog will realize this. It will seclude into a depression - that of which a child would go into if its parents ignored it.
Have you ever stopped to think why your dog is misbehaved? Could it possibly be because it knows you don't like it, so it constantly tries to make you love it... By protecting you from strangers (barking), finding you neat little presents (going into the garbage), putting its sent on your shoes (chewing), and being aggressive to others who come to close (growling), because it wants your love. It needs your love. You should NEVER keep a dog you don't like, and you should NEVER replace it with another dog while the unliked dog is in the home. Find someone to love him, to cherish him.
AND STOP ABUSING HIM!

We are immature and stupid? You are the one "joking" you dislike your dog. I never knew that psychological abuse of a dog was a joke.
