Many of these questions have already been answered. (you've been quizzing this board for 2 or 3 weeks EVERY DAY!) I guess you don't read well or recall well, what you've read or you don't BELEIVE the info provided. You've also been provided numerous websites to Weim breed information. Yesterday you announced you were getting a Boxador. What happened to THAT plan?
I'm only answering those I have not ALREADY answered...
1) Is there something that u can put into the ground with a large chain attached to it, and then he could run around maybe a 10ft-15ft radius so i could play fetch with him without worrying he will run off cuss there is a street by the large field. Buy a flexi-lead or put a clothes line on him, he can drag. If you put something in the ground only 10-15 ft radius, he will hurt his neck (gettign YANKED back) if your throw goes further than his line, or he will get discouraged & QUIT.
When asked, I told you I did not recommend you get a Weim. You're a totally NOVICE owner - which is NOT recommended for them. You're are already showing how little you know.
2) oh also why do they dock weims tails? Already answered yesterday under the Weim questions. (It has to do with injury; broken tails & ther required amputation of broken tails - which becomes MAJOR surgery in an older dog).
3)also if you do like 1 hr or 2 hr exercise, is it ok just for a walk and not running/fetch?
AHEM! I suggested 30-40 min BRISK walk with an 8 week old puppy. You do NOT run/jog with a dog, until it is 1 year old. You can DAMAGE the soft bones.
4)What is the best collar for a weim?
Dur-a-lon collars from Dogs Unlimited (see link beow). These collars are plastic covered nylon, so they can get wet & wipe dry, have a 2,000 lb test strength, come in a wide range of colors & 4 or 5 styles of buckle (non choke, flat buckle types). You can get your name, address, phone # & word "REWARD" on the 4 lines they offer on the tag which comes BOLTED to the collar. A bolted tag is much safer than a hanging tag, for the dog. It won't get caught on crates or fencing & strangle the dog.
5)Not all dogs like or accept treadmills. Don't ever leave the dog unattended while it's on. Retrieving or tracking are good cold weather exercise, or taking an indoor agility class.
6)as a puppy what should i feed it? dry or wet foods
Wet foods are very expensive. I think adding some for flavor and extra meat (they are higher in % of meat, vs kibble) which is usally made of a LOT of grains such as: corn, wheat or rice. Adding canned dog food or canned fatty fish such as mackerel or salmon added to the kibble diet can be a good idea. There is some evidence/articles in Dog World magazine & online articles by dog trainer William Campbell to suggest that a diet higher in protein, lower in carbohydrates makes a dog less hyper, and better able to pay attention, for training.
If affordable, I suggest a non-grain (potato based) dog-food, such as Innova's Evo, Wellness' Core, but the only non-grain puppy food I know of is Orijen.
Petsmart doesn't sell any really good foods, IMO. They want to make profit, that means lower quality foods, full of: corn, wheat, rice, soy.
7) toys/treats = Avoid any rope toys the dogs will knaw them & swallow long pieces wich can cause prolapse of the intestine on itself. I suggest real RAW soup bones or cow leg bones, or knuckle bones for chewing. You have to be careful with the bones from pet stores because they are cooked & can CRACK into sharp pieces he might swallow. Dogs can digest r |
