I am really confused about which food is best to feed my dog. My Weimaraner has bad skin allergies. |

Skin allergies are hard! I have 2 dogs with skin allergies and I have tried tons of different food with no difference until I changed to a grain free food! It was like night and day! I notice a difference with in a week! now 2 months later they both look awesome! My females hair is almost back! I am soo happy! I am feeding solid gold barking at the moon now I also like evo but for the price different I when with solid gold! The other food that is grain free is taste of the wild! if you can find that I would try that first! I can t feed because my female is allergic to chicken! Good luck I know it a long hard road with skin allergies! |

I've found that trial and error is the only way to know for sure which food will work, but starting with something that is labeled "natural" is a good place to start. We tried Nutro natural, and it worked pretty well; then we got Nature's Recipe venison, and it's amazing the difference in Padfoot's skin. My sis' dog would have died without Royal Canin allergy prescription food. Hopefully, you can find one that solves the skin problem without being too expensive. The Royal Canin is pricey and only available with the vet's prescription; Nature's Recipe is only about a dollar a pound. We noticed the difference within two weeks. Good luck! |

find out all about the ingredients in natural balance and lots of other dog foods at http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com the website reviews food brands and even reccomends foods best suited for dogs with allergies.
the best way to find out what your dog is allergic to is to get a food with only one source of meat and one starch like lamb and rice or duck and potato. corn is a very common allergy in dogs, and all of the dog foods sold in grocery stores feature corn as their main ingredient.
it takes a while to isolate the allergen, but you'll find it eventually. buy small bags of the foods and remember that the better foods have a money-back guarantee, so you can return the unused portion for exchange or refund. |

Have you checked out "Innova" We have been very satisfied with it and likewise our vet. Vinnies weight does not vary by more than a half pound a year and at 5 he's still a pup at heart. Innova was at time we chose it as one of the top 2 nutritionally balanced dog foods available. We have recommended it to others and they seem to totally agree with our findings.
Note - I am not in any way connected to the manufacturers of Innova |

It's an excellent food, though I prefer California Natural for my allergic dogs. The company that makes it (Natura) uses the best manufacturing practices I have seen in a dog food company, and uses human grade ingredients. You couldn't go wrong feeding either of these foods. |

I would suggest a home made diet.
You can also give an egg (with shell) once/twice a week by itself or mixed with food. The following oils will also improve skin and coat conditions: Flax seed oil, fish oil, cod liver oil, extra virgin olive oil.....choose one. These can also be given by itself or mixed with food. |
