Subject :Best brand of food for my weimaraner?..

I'm bringing our new weim puppy home next week and trying to get everything ready for him. He is on a generic brand of puppy food now and would like to change him over to a better healthier brand. Any recommendations? |

Here are a few that are good: Solid Gold, Wellness, Canidae, Timberwolf Organics, Innova, and Artemis Fresh Mix, there are several more but these are really good foods. They may be a bit pricey initially but they come out cheaper because you feed less. These are 100% human grade dog food with NO corn, wheat, soy, grain fractions, fillers or by products – and naturally preserved.

Pedigree
Purina- this includes, alpo, beneful.
Eukanuba
Science Diet
Ol Roy

I would recommend Innova, California Natural, Healthwise, Blue Buffalo, Natural Balance, Wellness, Orijen, Taste of the Wild, Canidae, and Merrick. All of these brands use fresh meats, whole grains, and fresh fruits and veggies. They are also all free of byproducts, and corn, wheat and soy. Remember, all dogs are different, and the first kind of food you try the dog might not love, don't be afraid to try another and find the perfect match. |

Like the other posters, I recommend foods made without grains & foods with 3 or more meat ingredients in the first 5. Those that used animal meat minus hormones, antibiotics, (who identify all fats & flavors) who use whole foods, and that don't use any dyes, sugars or food colorants, are best. The only preservatives you want are things like vitamins: C & E, rosemary, etc. Don't feed foods with: BHA, BHT or ethoxyquin.
Innova's Evo (non grain) is a top food (they have canned & kibble food, treats etc. all w/o grains). Wellness has Core. |
