Im getting a weimaraner dog which will be 8 weeks old when I get it, can you take the puppy outside (not just in the garden) and can you take it to the park or is the dog still to young. The puppy is a female and I was just curious because the dog can catch a disease or something?

How are you going to housebreak the dog if you don't take it outside? Yes, take it out. Get it used to being on a leash and going for walks. Keep it away from other dogs for now and public dog areas. If you have a fenced back yard that would be the best place but I would still use a leash since the dog has to get used to one anyway.

you must wait for twelve weeks until its had all its injections before taking it to the park or walkies Surely you have asked your vet for details after all that's an expensive pet you have and diseases are soon caught if you take it out too soon. certainly let it out into your own garden as long as there are no other dogs around

You can't take a dog out to the park or out on walks in general until the pup has had ALL vaccinations. Of course, you can take him/her out in the garden, as long as it's no where near other dogs.

awh melt. . . what a cute puppy. . .

anyway. . .
your puppy needs to have all his/her vaccinations before going near other dogs or local/dog parks, he/she should have its first and second vaccinations, you should talk to your vet about having them done, and also talk to him about parvo and depending on were your living eventually a rabies shot

your dog needs to have all her shots before she can go out.
when she comes to your home, she will be stressed, and unsure of things.
she will be getting used to new smells, being away from her litte rmates and mother, new bed, new food dishes, new owners new routine..everything is strange to her.
As soon as you get her, make an appointment with the vet to have her checked over, get wormers and flea control plus her shots.
You cannot take her out until 7 days after the last shot the vet gives her.
So from getting her to the end of the 7 days after the last shot, she MUST stay in your home or garden. Do not introduce her to other dogs or take her to petsmart or any stores or shopping malls, or take her to any dog parks.

It is recommended that you do not take your puppies to any pet store or park until it has received all of there shots. In which that is about at 12 weeks of age they will get there rabies shot. Then after that you can.

Once your puppie has received all the shots then you want to take it out alot and often and socialize your dog with many dogs so that it will grow up to be a very socialized and non aggressive dog.

You will need to get it vaccinated, normally at 8 weeks and again at 10 weeks old. Then it can go and socialise with other dogs and to the park a week after that.

It is ok to go out into the garden to help to housetrain it though.

You can take the pup outside and around other pets only if it has had the full series of vaccinations for parvo and other diseases. If it is only 8 wks. old,it is very doubtful it has finished its entire series of vaccinations.

Here is a good read for why you should socialize your puppy before their shots are finished.

sounds like you know the answer

do not take the dog out to doggy parks or walks around your area
when your puppy has had all his shots, and then you should also wait about a week or 2,then you can take the puppy around
best to just potty in your yard

As long as it is current on all it's shots and has been completely checked out by your vet, I don't see why not. All my dogs have gone out at 8 weeks. That's when a good breeder has taken her puppies to the vet for a full exam and all it's shots. Don't forget the followup shots and boosters. Don't forget to feed your pup the same thing it was being fed before you got it. If you should change the food, do it gradually and not all at once. Good luck and you are about to have your whole world changed!

Your puppy should not be placed outside of your house/garden until it has had the necessary shots.
Usually the dog will be around 12 weeks before it is able to walk outside of your house.
You should carry your dog around the neighbourhood to socialise your dog. Don't allow your dog to go on the ground or mix with other dogs until it's had the complete course of shots.

I like Weimaraners they are cute :)

Puppies should not go out until at least 1 week after their last shot.
Then its ok, but be careful to go for very short trips only at that age.
Until she's 6 month old she should not go for proper walks and not over-exert herself, as her bones are still soft.

Do not take your puppy outside off your fenced property until she has finished her course of vaccinations. And when you take her to the vet for her shots, carry her in - do NOT put her on the ground, either inside or outside the vet's office. There are some literally deadly diseases that puppies can, and do catch. You need to wait a further couple of weeks after her last set of shots before taking her near large number of dogs, or where they have been too, to be sure the vaccinations have taken. It's worth the wait to have a healthy puppy.

Add - why all the TDs for people saying keep her AWAY from other dogs until she's had her shots? I repeat DO NOT TAKE YOUR PUPPY OFF YOUR PROPERTY UNTIL SHE'S FULLY VACCINATED. Why? because after about 5 weeks, any immunity she has taken from her mother will gradually decrease until by 8 weeks or so, she will not be protected. Each puppy is different in terms of their level of immunity, and the only true way to know what immunity level she has is to test. But this is expensive. And for this reason vets recommnd shots are done at the best average age - ie 8 weeks on. What on earth is going on around here!!!
Add - to the person who doesn't believe in vaccinating (and I agree, yearly boostering is not necessary) the probable reason why your own animals haven't been stricken by these serious diseases is because people do vaccinate their animals, which means there are less sick animals out there to spread the diseases. Yes, some puppies may have taken sufficient immunity from their dams to set them up for life (but how many people booster their bitches before mating so they are fully up to speed?) but as I said, the only way to know for sure whether vaccination is necessary, and when, is to check titres. Meanwhile general vaccination of puppies is still the safest option.

The puppy is not restricted to going outside because of its age – its restricted by its immunity!!!
First, ask the person your getting it from if its fully vaccinated. If its not, you need to take it to the vet. You can have the first injection right away then another 4 weeks later. After that you can take your dog out.
