would like to know if a Doberman Pincher, German Short-Haired Pointer, Standard Poodle or Weimaraner would suit my life style better.:
- I live by myself
- I am very active
- i will show my dog who is boss, me
- i go swimming, jogging and camping vey often
- i will socialize my dog every day by taking him to places and the dog park often
what i am looking in dog
- will keep up with me with my active life style
- is Intelligent and responsive
- is loyal and sweet
- very playful
- would be a velcro dog!!
I will make sure to do as much research as i can before i go and buy a dog and i would get him by a responsible and caring breeder.
so what do you think of those breeds suits my needs and do you think my life style would be ok?
Thanks in advance
Also my dog would spend about 4-5 hours by it self each day. Also I would definitely take him to puppy classes, I know it is important to socialize any dog, as any breed so I would be spending alot of time to do that. |

Beware of dogs that are large, it all depends on on your living accommodation. Do you have a garden, how large is your living space. Are you getting a puppy? A dog which is too active may not cope with being left 5 hours each day! Personally I would not choose a Doberman Pincher or a Weimaraner if you are not going to be around 4 more than 3 hours. |

lab wiemaraner mix
they are really loyal
learn very fast
really good with other dogs
VERY playful
an all over good dog who you will love
but remember, at the end of the day, the dog is the dog, and no matter what breed you pick, you're sure to love it just as much! |

I think any of those breeds will work for you. However you will have to take some extra time out of your day with the Poodle as far as grooming goes. The require daily brushing and combing. Just something to think about. I personally love Dobermans though. |

AUSSIE! Aussie Shepherds are great dogs, very energetic/playful, perpetual puppies, love games, incredibly smart/easy to train, and very doting/loving (mine is currently chewing a toy on my feet). |

OK, time for the soap box..... There are tons of mixed breed dogs in shelters looking for homes. Purebred dogs are prone to many genetic diseases. Dobermans get early onset heart failure and are prone to a bleeding disorder called Von willebrands disease. Poodles get cancer, German shorthair pointers can have bleedind disorders as well and are just plain crazy and would not be a so called "velcro" dog. I guess of all the breeds, Weimaraners would be the best but they are prone to bloat and hip dysplasia which would rule out an active lifestyle.
I have owned both mixed breed and purebred dogs. And have worked in the veterinary field for 21 years. My mixed breed dogs were much much healthier than my purebreds.
Do a dog a favor and adopt. |

I also live alone, active life style but work 7 to 8 hours per day. I got a Weimaraner puppy about a month ago and have never looked back. She took about 3 days to crate train and now I pop home at lunch to let her out and she's happy as a clam. She loves the dog park, took reasonably well to puppy training and is great to either sit and cuddle or go out for a run. If you want a Weim, I would go for it! |
