This breeder is a backyard breeder and I would run as far away as possible from this 'breeder'. Dogs need to be a minimum of 8 weeks old to leave mom. A Breeder that doesn't do this probably has low quality dogs that are loaded with behavioural and genetic problems. DO you *want* a sick and out of control dog????
- The breeder will provide AKC papers and you then register the dog. Proof of ownership can be accomplished with a polaroid or photo of the dog and vet papers.
- Most cities require a license and rabies vaccinations.
Like I said, RUN away from this breeder. |

no dog tax, no legal stuff. u have to ask the breeder if your dog will receive shots some do some don't, but they are VERY important, i just dealt with parvo in my two lab mixes and you DON`T WANT TO. You may get papers, if hes a purebred, and if your paying for them, but you may not get papers, thats optional |

Just call any vet to find out what licensing you need, they usually have the registration tags there and you can do it all at once.
A rabies shot is required. Distemper and parvo are critical to have, but you have to give them to the dog at the right age. Again, the vet can help you on that. |

for a start your new puppy should be 8-10 weeks before leaving he/she leaves the mother and litter mates.
you should as the breeder about te shots then phone your vet and ask them about the other stuff as they will be able to tell you more. |

i wouldnt buy a pup from a breeder if it wasnt vet checked if breeders cared enough for their pups they would fork out the money for a vet check.i know i do. |

Laws vary from state to state, and sometimes from county to county. Your best bet would be to contact your local government office. |

get papers on the dogs parents history and pedigree. the dog should be wormed and have its first shots. the dogs tail should be docked. It depends on dog tax because each town is different.Make sure the dog doesnt have gooey stuff in its eyes. They should be at least eight weeks before you get them so if its not i would try to find another breeder, its most conman for under aged dogs being sold to have issues with the body or health. |

im from illinois and ive never had to pay a dog tax if there is one it would be included in the cost from the breeder if the breeder is reputable then they will all the papers ull need like akc (or whatever kennel its parents belong to) registration just fill it out and mail it out with the check (depending on what plan you buy) you puppy will come with its first set of shots and your breeder should give you a shot schedule if not call your vet when you get it home and set up your appointments any dog can be a family dog regardless its class just make sure to get plenty of exercise and socialization (puppy school friends with other dogs new people but not to soon after he comes home let him adjust) and lastly i read somewhere the average cost of owning a medium size dog costs around$14,000 during its life time and i belive that i have to rottie and theyre pigs!! best of luck to ya ps l love wermies |

im getting the dog as a puppy 6weeks old
**Puppies NEED the socialization & corrections they get from mom & littermates, until they are 7-8 weeks old. This is important for future behavior purposes. BTW, it is ILLEGAL to sell a dog before 8 weeks! This is a sign of an unethical or not reputable seller!!! BEWARE!!!
-do most breeders give the dog their shots before you buy them from him?
Yes, one set & it should NOT be done before 8 weeks, as the mother's antibodies are still working then, & it will only fight with them if given at say, 6 weeks. The puppy should also have been wormed at least once (but that doesn't mean you won't have to worm again). Puppies will need 2 more booster shots at 10 weks & 12 weeks, then rabies at 16 weeks.
I strongly urge you to follow the Weim Club of American's vaccine protochol. Many puppies end up having bad shot reactions if they are given multiple vaccine shots, like a 4, 5, 6 way shot. Most vets don't know this, as they don't deal with many Weims.
Link: <a href="http://www.weimclubamerica.org/health/shots.html">http://www.weimclubamerica.org/health/shots.html</a>
COPY & present to your vet with firm instructions NOT to deviate or change the protochol. If your vet won't follow your instructions, DO NOT let him vaccinate your puppy; shot reactions can be SEVERE! You are paying the vet, he works for YOU!
-What papers do i need to own a dog like proof of owning it, shots it had ect. and how do i get those papers.
*A written & signed bill of sale, & AKC papers. (I'd also expect to get a written health guarantee a 3 generation pedigree & a list of what food to feed & how much and how many meals it is used to (3-or 4 meals per day is common at 8 weeks).
-i feel like im missing something else, i got all the info i need about the breed and training. <LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!>
*I don't think you have that, esp from yahoo replies. If you put up another box asking for stuff, I'll send you the best links on breed information and at least one book recommendation for puppy training up thru the first year; what to expect, how to deal with it. You are taking a HUGE step, & I don't think you have any idea what you are getting into, or how bad what you don't know, might end up being. There's so much you aren't doing right. You haven't gotten any references or checked out the breeder; he's not helping you or answering your questions. You don't have any fenced area for the dog & don't intend to provide one. You have no clear understanding of the costs involved. One emergecy run to the vet's can be another $1,000. Do you have any income? What's your back-up plan?
Weimaraners are NOT recommended for novice or first-time dog owners. They are a 10 as to need of exercise. They can be very will-full & very destructive.
**************************************…
now i just need to deal with the legal stuff of owning a dog..
-this might sound like a stupid qeustion but is their a dog tax?
*Call up your animal control office or call your vet & ask. Either should know.
Additional Details
im not that interested in breeding with other dogs if that helps, i dont care if its a full bred or mix, it would be nice to know its just not a necessity.
*It matters if you don't get what you paid for. If you just want a mutt go to the shelter & get one already fixed & current on shots.
what kind of license do i need and where do i get it *(See above.)
im guessing i the 6 weeks, the breeder is a good one cuss hes got a couple wiems and he goes hunting with them sometimes (their a hunting breed) it might be 8 weeks like i said i was guessing im a noob srry
*Just becasue he has a couple of Weims (doesn't say anything as to his qualifications to be a reputable breeder). Really good breeders research, study & then go out & use the best male they can for their female. RARELY does the best possible mate, live at the breeder's house or down the street. While hunting is nice, this person doesn't seem to have answered ANY of your questions (which all should have been asked of your breeder.) Nor has the "breeder" (I use the term loosely) asked YOU any questions, as far as we can tell. Has the breeder done the required health screenings of his dogs before he bred the litter? Do they both have OFA certified hips? CERF eyes? Thyroid run?
A reputable breeder would be talking to you frequently, had you over to visit the pups several times, & be mentoring you, suggesting books/ articles for you to read, BEFORE you get the dog. Helping you to be PREPARED.
also how much does a dog license usually cost?
*Varies $25-100.00 (intact dogs are usually more $$).
its going to be a family pet. not used for hunting just fyi
*Weims were BRED TO BE a bird dog, why would you get a bird dog if you have no intention of hunting one? That could make the dog miserable, esp if from hunting lines. BTW, Weims from hunting lines are generally far more active, than those from |
