Hello, we have a one year Weimaraner and I'm planning to take him with us for holydays. We will travel from South America to Europe in an Air France 747 direct flight for holidays and it is 9 to 10 hours flight. I'm thinking to take it because where we are living, places to leave pets have a very poor service, or not very trustable, or leave the dog a lot of time in the kennel and eventually give them some tranquilizer! I know that it is not really recommended but he is already crate trained because he was very disastrous when younger so he used to sleep all night in his kennel. Is someone having some experience in regular air travel with dog in the plane hold can give me some advice Thank you.?

About 6 years I flew from Us to England with my one show dog. vet had to give her pills for the trip over and back but she did well. I lined her crate with 6-8 inches of news paper then put pee pads on top of the with a blanket and some of her favorite toys, a water bottle was attached to inside of crate and she had some food to nibble on. She did well for first flight but was some what groggy from pills but that wore off pretty quick.
Good Luck

Um,,,,first if I may say.....if some of you don't know what a Weimaraner is, click below

okay, now to answer your question, don't worry about it.
your dog will be fine. If you would be more comfortble this
way, ask (before hand) if you can have someone be with your
dog the whole flight so you know your pup is safe! You know,
there probably is another option if you didn't want to bring
your dog on with ya....leave him with a trustworthy family
member or friend. Remember, this is totally up to you, since
you are the owner, I know you will make the right choice.
If you take your dog on, stay calm, give your dog a nice chewy
bone that could last him 12 hours & give him a nice blanket
and another chew toy. he will be fine, and the flight people
will check on your dog all throughout the flight.
